Summary: Pancreatic cancer is very hard to treat, so scientists are always looking for new weak spots in the disease. In this study, researchers found a protein called PABPC1 that is found in high amounts in pancreatic cancer cells. When they "turned off" or silenced this protein, the cancer cells stopped growing, couldn't spread as easily, and even started to die off. They discovered that silencing PABPC1 blocks a specific chemical path in the cells that cancer uses to survive. This means targeting this protein could be a promising new way to treat pancreatic cancer in the future!
