Pathogenic dengue virus TW2015 strain infection triggers anaerobic glycolysis and enhances mortality in diabetic mice.

Summary: Dengue fever is a dangerous virus spread by mosquitoes. A very strong type of this virus caused a big outbreak in Taiwan. Scientists found that this virus makes the infected body produce too much of a chemical called lactate and causes blood sugar to drop dangerously low. This combination is especially deadly for mice that have diabetes. The virus does this by breaking the energy factories inside the cells.

But there is good news! When scientists used medicine to block the body from making too much lactate, the mice had less virus in their blood and survived much longer. This discovery could lead to a promising new treatment for people with severe dengue, especially those who already have health problems like diabetes.
