Pediatric surgery in Burkina Faso: capacity, gaps, and challenges.
Summary: Imagine being a child who needs surgery, but the local hospital doesn't have a special doctor or the right tools for kids. In the country of Burkina Faso, a new study looked at 26 hospitals and found big gaps in care. Only 7 of the hospitals had a full-time children's surgeon. Very few had special operating rooms or training for the staff. The good news is that most hospitals do a great job checking on the kids after they go home. Still, the country needs a strong plan to get more doctors, better tools, and more training so every child can get the safe surgery they need.
