Pegylated Interferon Shows Activity Across Hematologic Neoplasms
Summary: A recent study shows that a medicine called Pegylated Interferon-α (PEG-IFN-α) is helpful for treating several rare blood disorders. In a study of 30 patients, the drug worked very well for conditions that cause the body to make too many blood cells. It was also great for patients with a disease called systemic mastocytosis, quickly stopping severe itching and skin problems. While about 20% of people had to stop taking the medicine because of side effects like flu-like symptoms, it remains a strong choice for patients who need alternative treatments.
