Photocatalytic Reductive Desulfonation of Aryl Tosylates.
Summary: Scientists have found a cool new way to use visible light to help make medicines and chemicals! Sometimes, chemists put a protective "shield" (called a tosylate) on parts of a molecule while they build it. Later, they need to take that shield off without breaking the rest of the molecule. By shining a special light on a certain chemical mixture, they can gently pop off the shield and leave the rest of the molecule perfectly safe. It works really well, succeeding up to 93% of the time!
