Predictors of Life Satisfaction in Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander College Students.
Summary: For many college students, high stress levels are a guaranteed recipe for unhappiness. However, a fascinating new study reveals this isn't the case for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NH/PI) students. Researchers surveyed 128 NH/PI university students and found that while positive moods strongly boosted life satisfaction and negative feelings lowered it, stress levels surprisingly had no significant impact on their overall happiness. This unique finding suggests that for NH/PI students, fostering community connection and positive emotions is far more important for well-being than simply trying to reduce stress.
