Prenatal exposure to criteria air pollution and traffic-related air toxics and risk of autism spectrum disorder: A population-based cohort study of California births (1990-2018).

Summary: Did you know that the air a mother breathes during pregnancy might affect her baby's brain? A massive study in California looked at over 13 million children born between 1990 and 2018. Researchers found that pregnant women who breathed in more air pollution, especially from car traffic, had a slightly higher chance of having a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Even though air quality has gotten better over the years, this study shows why we need to keep working to clean up our air to protect growing babies.
