Preoperative assessment of Ki-67 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma using a multi-parametric spectral CT approach.

Summary: Liver cancer can be tricky to treat, and doctors need to know how fast a tumor is growing to plan the best care. A special protein called Ki-67 tells them exactly this, but usually, they have to wait until after surgery to test the tumor for it. Now, doctors have found a clever way to check this protein before surgery using a special 3D X-ray called a spectral CT scan. By looking at how the tumor takes up a special dye during the scan, doctors can accurately predict if the cancer is growing fast or slow. This helps them plan the perfect treatment much sooner!
