Preparing for next-generation PrEP: awareness and willingness to use long-acting injectable cabotegravir among men who have sex with men and trans women across Asia.
Summary: Imagine a new shot that can protect you from HIV for months, so you don't have to take a pill every day. This new shot is called CAB-LA. Researchers asked over 12,000 gay men and transgender women in Asia what they thought about it. They found that most people did not know about the shot yet. Only about 1 in 5 people said they would be willing to use it. People liked that it protects against HIV without needing a daily pill. But, they were worried about the high cost, side effects, and pain from the needle. To help people use this new shot, doctors and health workers need to share more information and help make it easier to get.
