Prognostic power of radiomics in head and neck cancers: Insights from a meta-analysis.

Summary: Predicting survival rates for Head and Neck Cancer patients is complex. Traditionally, doctors rely on clinical notes and basic observations. However, a new field called "radiomics" uses computers to extract hidden data patterns from CT and MRI scans that the human eye might miss. A recent comprehensive review of 16 studies found that while neither clinical notes nor radiomics are perfect on their own, combining them creates a significantly more powerful tool. By merging standard medical records with advanced computer analysis of scans, doctors can predict patient outcomes with much greater accuracy, leading to more personalized treatment plans.
