Racial Disparities in Hypertension-Related Hospital Mortality Among Adults in the United States.

Summary: High blood pressure is a major reason people end up in the hospital. Sadly, it can sometimes lead to death. This study looked at hospital records for over 360,000 adults in the United States to see if a person's race affects their chances of surviving. The researchers found a troubling unfairness: Black patients had a 55% higher chance of dying in the hospital from high blood pressure problems compared to White patients. This shows we urgently need better, fairer healthcare and policies to help everyone get the right treatment, no matter their race.
