Rare video of a sperm whale birth shows female animals working together
Summary: Scientists recently captured amazing drone video of a sperm whale giving birth off the coast of Dominica. What made it so special? Female whales from different families teamed up like an underwater squad of midwives! During the 30-minute delivery, 11 females surrounded the mother, making special clicking sounds to communicate and sync up. Afterward, they took turns holding the newborn baby above the water for hours so it could breathe and learn to swim. It shows that these giant animals have close, female-led families that support each other during their most vulnerable moments.
