Rising incidence of acute hepatitis A among adults and clinical characteristics in a tertiary care center of Pakistan.

Summary: Hepatitis A is a liver infection that usually affects children. But lately, more adults are getting sick with it. Doctors at a hospital in Pakistan looked at adults who got sudden liver infections over a five-year period. Out of 396 sick adults, 234 had Hepatitis A. This was much higher than the number of adults who had Hepatitis E, another common liver virus. The good news is that the adults with Hepatitis A did not get as sick as those with Hepatitis E. Because more adults are catching this virus, doctors say we need better clean water, good hand washing, and vaccines for adults to stop it from spreading.
