Risk of compassion fatigue among emergency department nurses: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Summary: Emergency room nurses work in highly stressful places and see a lot of trauma. Because of this, they are at a very high risk of getting "compassion fatigue," which is when they feel completely worn out from caring for others. A new study looked at data from over 2,300 nurses to see how common this is. They found that ER nurses have a much higher risk of this extreme burnout. Things like their work environment and personal traits play a big role. Knowing this can help hospitals find ways to support and protect their nurses better.
