Robotic beds for the treatment of positional obstructive sleep apnea - A randomized cross-over pilot trial.
Summary: Imagine a "smart bed" that moves automatically when you stop breathing during sleep. Researchers tested two robotic beds on men with positional sleep apnea. One bed raised the upper body by 50 degrees when breathing stopped, while the other tilted the sleeper sideways to prevent rolling onto their back. The results were mixed: the bed that raised the head helped delay the next breathing pause and showed promise for improving breathing while lying flat. However, the sideways-tilting bed mostly failed to actually roll the sleepers over. While neither bed was a complete cure, the "elevating" concept shows more potential than the "tilting" one.
