Role of Melatonin in Intestinal Mucosal Injury Induced by Chronic Restraint Stress in Mice.

Summary: Being super stressed out for a long time can really hurt your stomach and intestines. In this study, scientists looked at mice that were put under daily stress. The stressed mice had lower levels of a natural chemical called melatonin, and their gut lining got damaged. But when the scientists gave the stressed mice extra melatonin, it acted like a shield! It stopped the damage, lowered bad stress chemicals, and helped the gut heal. This shows that melatonin might be a great way to protect our stomachs when we are dealing with a lot of stress.
