Rural-Urban differentials in the factors associated with modern contraceptive usage among married reproductive-aged women in Hubei province, China.
Summary: In China, family planning is often seen as just a woman's job. But what makes women choose to use modern birth control? Researchers asked over 6,000 married women in Hubei province. They found that most women—nearly 9 out of 10—use birth control, whether they live in the city or the country. However, the reasons why they use it are different. For country women, knowing about condoms and their age mattered most. For city women, talking with their husbands and having their husbands use birth control made a big difference. The takeaway? Country areas need better education for women, while city areas need husbands to step up and join the conversation!
