Saphnelo SC Approval Expands Delivery Options for SLE Patients
Summary: Great news for people with lupus! The FDA just approved a new way to take the lupus medicine Saphnelo. Before, patients had to go to a clinic to get the medicine through an IV tube in their arm. Now, they can use a simple auto-injector pen to give themselves a shot at home once a week.
In medical studies, over half of the patients using the new pen saw a big drop in their lupus symptoms without getting new flare-ups. The medicine is safe, though some people might get mild colds or coughs. The new at-home pens will be ready for patients by the end of June 2026.
