Seroprevalence of scrub typhus among patients with acute febrile illness: A study from northern districts of West Bengal.
Summary: Scrub typhus is a serious illness caused by bug bites. At first, it just feels like a normal fever, which makes it hard for doctors to know what is wrong. But if it is not treated, it can cause severe damage to the heart, lungs, and kidneys. Doctors in West Bengal, India, tested blood from people who had been sick with long-lasting fevers over five years. They found that about 12 out of every 100 of these patients actually had scrub typhus. This shows that doctors need to test for it early to treat it and save lives!
