Sex differences in symptom presentation in acute myocardial infarction: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Summary: When we think of a heart attack, we often picture the "Hollywood" version: a man clutching his chest in agony. However, a major review of medical research reveals that for women, the warning signs can be much more subtle. While chest pain is still the most common symptom, women are significantly less likely to experience it than men. Instead, women are more likely to report fatigue, nausea, dizziness, or pain in the jaw, neck, or right arm. Recognizing these non-traditional symptoms is crucial for ensuring women get the timely medical care they need.
