Spatiotemporal transcriptome and metabolome landscapes of cotton somatic embryos.

Summary: Growing cotton plants from single cells in a lab is a great way to breed better crops. However, for cotton, this process is really hard to do because scientists didn't know exactly what was happening inside the cells as they grew. Now, researchers have used special tools to map out exactly which genes and chemicals are working at different times and places in the growing cotton cells. They found two important genes, called AATP1 and DOX2, that control this growth. They even made a free website where other scientists can look up this information to help grow better cotton in the future!
