STAT+: Maryland state affordability board places a price cap on Ozempic

Summary: Maryland is taking a big step to make the popular diabetes drug Ozempic much more affordable. A state board recently decided to cap the price of a 30-day supply at $274 for state and local government workers. This new price limit will start in January 2027 and is expected to save the state $5.8 million every year. Even better, the board plans to set similar price limits for all Marylanders with regular health insurance by 2028.
