STELLAR-304: a phase III study of zanzalintinib (XL092) plus nivolumab in advanced non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
Summary: Rare forms of kidney cancer, known as non-clear cell RCC, are notoriously difficult to treat because there is limited data on which drugs work best. The STELLAR-304 trial is a major new study designed to solve this problem. It tests a "power couple" of treatments: a new oral drug called zanzalintinib combined with an immune-boosting infusion called nivolumab. Researchers are comparing this combination against sunitinib, the current standard therapy, to see if the new duo can stop tumor growth for longer. This is the first large-scale study of its kind for these specific patients.
