Successful Use of Calcium Chloride in Acute Calcium Channel Blocker Overdose With Shock: A Case Report.
Summary: Blood pressure medicines called calcium channel blockers are very common. But taking too many can be deadly, causing the heart to slow down and blood pressure to drop dangerously low. Sometimes, standard treatments do not work. In this story, a 60-year-old woman took too much of her blood pressure medicine and went into severe shock. Doctors tried the usual medicines, but she did not get better. Finally, they gave her a different medicine called calcium chloride through an IV. Almost right away, her blood pressure went back up, and she survived! This shows that calcium chloride can be a lifesaver when other treatments fail.
