Sugar type and route of delivery influence insulin and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide responses in rats.
Summary: Scientists wanted to know how tasting sugar changes the way our bodies react compared to just putting sugar straight into the stomach. To find out, they created a special setup with rats. They gave the rats sugar water either directly into their mouths or directly into their stomachs, and then measured their blood. They found that actually tasting the sugar in the mouth caused a much bigger release of important hormones like insulin. This shows that the taste of sweet things helps prepare the body to digest sugar better!
