Surgical outcomes using 3-dimensional image simulation for segmentectomy planning in patients with stage IA1-2 non-small cell lung cancer.
Summary: Imagine you need surgery to remove a small lung cancer tumor. Doctors have a cool new tool: a 3D computer model of your lung to help them plan the exact surgery. A recent study looked at 266 patients who had lung surgery. Half of them had their surgery planned with this 3D model, and half did not. The results? Patients whose doctors used the 3D model had fewer problems after surgery and were less likely to need extra oxygen when they went home. For really tricky surgeries, the 3D model also helped doctors finish the operation faster! It shows that planning with 3D pictures makes lung surgery safer and smoother.
