Synthesis of thiosemicarbazone Schiff base derivatives as anti-leishmanial agents and molecular dynamics simulations insights.
Summary: Leishmaniasis is a serious disease caused by tiny parasites. It is the second worst parasite disease in the world after malaria. In this study, scientists made new chemical medicines to try and fight the disease. They tested these new drugs in the lab on two different forms of the parasite. Some of the new drugs worked very well! Two specific chemicals, named 5g and 5p, were the best at killing the parasites. This gives hope for creating better treatments in the future.
