Systematic review of pharmacoeconomic studies of pharmacogenomic tests.

Summary: Personalized medicine uses your DNA to help doctors choose the best drugs for you, a field known as pharmacogenomics. However, figuring out if these genetic tests are worth the financial cost is complicated. Researchers reviewed 15 different economic studies and found that there is no standard way to calculate the value of these tests. Each study measured costs and benefits differently, making comparisons difficult. To make better healthcare decisions in the future, the researchers conclude that we need a consistent method that accounts for specific factors like ethnicity, how common a genetic marker is, and the cost of analyzing genetic data.
