Tapinarof Cream Shows Early, Consistent Improvement in Sleep for Patients With Atopic Dermatitis
Summary: Eczema (also called atopic dermatitis) is a skin condition that makes kids super itchy. This itching often ruins their sleep, which means their parents and families are kept awake all night, too.
A recent study looked at a medicine called Tapinarof cream (1%) to see if it could help. The study included 654 kids between the ages of 2 and 17 who have moderate to severe eczema. The results were great: kids as young as 2 years old started sleeping much better. Children ages 2 to 6 and teens ages 12 to 17 saw better sleep after just one week of using the cream. Kids ages 7 to 11 saw improvements by week four. Because the kids were finally sleeping, their parents and families reported getting much better rest, too. The most common side effects of the cream were inflamed hair follicles, headaches, and cold-like symptoms.
