The Association of Serum Biomarkers With Symptomatic Hemorrhagic Transformation in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Combined Retrospective and Prospective Study.
Summary: When someone has a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel, a scary problem can sometimes happen: bleeding in the brain. Doctors need a quick way to know who might get this bleeding so they can help them in time. In this study, scientists looked at the blood of stroke patients to find clues. They discovered that a special protein in the blood, called von Willebrand factor (vWF), was much lower in patients who later had brain bleeding. By testing for this protein early on, doctors can better predict who is at risk and take better care of them.
