The perspectives of healthcare professionals in providing care to women with GDM in high-income nations: A qualitative systematic review.
Summary: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a growing concern that poses health risks for both mothers and babies. While doctors, nurses, and midwives are dedicated to managing this condition, a new review of 33 studies from wealthy nations reveals they face significant hurdles. Nearly 1,000 healthcare professionals reported that a lack of time, limited resources, and confusing or inconsistent practice guidelines make it difficult to provide the best care. To improve safety and support for pregnant women, hospitals need to establish clearer rules, foster better teamwork between specialists, and ensure medical staff have the time and tools they need.
