Therapeutic efficacy of orthokeratology lenses with different back optic zone diameters in myopia control: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Summary: Nearsightedness (myopia) is a common problem for teens, and it often gets worse as they grow. Special contact lenses worn at night, called Ortho-K lenses, can help slow it down by gently reshaping the eye. This study looked at 17 different reports to see if the size of the lens's center (the optic zone) makes a difference. The results? Yes, it does! Lenses with a smaller center did a much better job of keeping the eye from growing too long, which is what makes nearsightedness worse. They also helped teens see better with their glasses. While the smaller lenses did cause a slight increase in some minor visual glares, the overall benefit for slowing down nearsightedness is very promising.
