Three strategies of implant placement as an abutment for combined tooth-implant-supported double crown removable partial dentures: A clinical report of three patients up to 18 years.
Summary: For people who have lost many of their natural teeth, chewing and smiling can be difficult. Removable partial dentures are a common solution, but they rely on the remaining natural teeth for support. If those remaining teeth are weak or in the wrong spots, the denture might not fit well or last long. This report highlights a successful strategy used on three patients: dentists placed dental implants in specific, strategic spots to work alongside the natural teeth. Using a high-precision gold fitting system (electroforming), they created "double crown" dentures that snap securely onto both the implants and natural teeth. After tracking these patients for up to 18 years, the results were excellent—both the implants and natural teeth remained healthy and strong. This proves that combining implants with natural teeth is a reliable, long-term way to restore a smile.
