TIPE2 Alleviates Sepsis-induced Lung Injury By Inhibiting PANoptosis in Murine Alveolar Macrophages.
Summary: Sepsis is a dangerous, whole-body infection that can severely damage the lungs. Scientists wanted to know exactly how this lung damage happens and how to stop it. They discovered that a special protein called TIPE2 acts like a protective shield for lung cells. When mice lacked this protein, their lung cells died off quickly in a messy, fiery way, making the lung damage much worse. But when the scientists boosted the TIPE2 protein, it stopped the cells from self-destructing and protected the lungs. This exciting discovery means that boosting TIPE2 could one day be a new way to treat severe lung injury caused by sepsis!
