To framework, or not to framework? Reflections from co-design of a digital supportive care platform for patients with brain tumours and their carers.
Summary: When creating health apps and websites, experts usually follow strict, step-by-step rules called "frameworks." But when a research team set out to build "Brain Tumours Online"—a new website to help brain tumor patients and their caregivers—they found that strict rules didn't work well. The patients had very unique needs, and the different groups working on the project had different goals.
Instead of sticking to one rigid plan, the team decided to use a mix of flexible methods. This teamwork helped them build a much better platform that offers trusted medical information, a supportive online community, and helpful digital tools. They learned that being flexible and adapting to changes is the best way to design health tools that truly help people.
