Trends in the use of menopausal hormone therapy in France, 2001-2023.
Summary: For a long time, doctors have given women hormone therapy to help with the symptoms of menopause. But how many women still use it today? Researchers looked at national health records in France from 2001 to 2023 to find out. They discovered a huge drop in the total number of hormone treatments handed out. However, this drop was mostly for "systemic" treatments, like pills or patches that send hormones through the whole body. On the other hand, "local" treatments, like creams used just in one specific spot, stayed about the same. Today, more than half of all hormone treatments for menopause in France are local ones.
