Trichostatin A Sensitizes Tumor Cells to Apoptosis Induced by Soluble Trimeric TRAIL-Expressing Human Mesenchymal Stromal Cells.
Summary: Scientists are using special cells called MSCs as tiny delivery trucks to bring a cancer-fighting tool called TRAIL right to tumors. However, some cancer cells are stubborn and have a shield that blocks TRAIL. To fix this, researchers added a drug called TSA. TSA acts like a key that unlocks doors on the cancer cells, forcing them to let the TRAIL treatment inside. When tested in mice, the combination of the MSC delivery trucks and the TSA drug worked amazingly well together. It stopped the tumors from growing and even made some of the most stubborn tumors disappear completely! This new team-up could be a great way to treat hard-to-cure cancers in the future.
