Triple Antihypertensive Pill May Lower Incidence of Recurrent Stroke
Summary: Taking one daily pill that combines three blood pressure medicines might help prevent a second stroke. Doctors studied people who already had a bleeding stroke in the brain. They gave half of the patients a special daily pill with low doses of three medicines, and the other half a fake pill.
The group taking the real 3-in-1 pill had much lower blood pressure. They also had fewer second strokes—only 4.6% had another stroke, compared to 7.4% of those taking the fake pill. Doctors say this new combo pill could completely change how they treat patients after a stroke, making it much easier to keep blood pressure safely down.
