Trump admin delays nomination for new CDC director past deadline
Summary: The Trump administration missed the deadline to name a new boss for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Right now, Jay Bhattacharya is helping run the agency, but because the deadline passed, he can't officially be called the "acting director" anymore. Because of the rules, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has to step in and handle some of the top CDC duties himself.
The White House is taking its time to find a new leader who agrees with their "Make America Healthy Again" goals but won't cause too many arguments about vaccines. The CDC has had a really tough year with firings, a shooting, and lots of sudden changes. Finding a new director will be hard because the Senate has to vote to approve them, and even some Republicans are getting frustrated with all the chaos.
