Trump Wants To Set Up $1.7B Fund To Pay Jan. 6 Rioters
Summary: President Donald Trump is reportedly thinking about dropping a $10 billion lawsuit against the government. In exchange, he wants to create a $1.7 billion fund to pay people involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Mark McCloskey, the lawyer famous for holding a rifle during 2020 protests, says this compensation idea was his plan. He currently represents hundreds of the rioters. If this deal happens, Trump would control the fund, and the payouts would be kept completely secret from the public. Lawmakers are already calling the idea a corrupt use of taxpayer money.
