Untargeted cell metabolomics and network analysis of CORT-Injured HT22 cells treated with albiflorin.
Summary: Albiflorin is a natural plant compound used in traditional Chinese medicine. Scientists already know it can help treat depression. In this study, researchers looked at how it protects brain cells from damage caused by a stress hormone called corticosterone. They found that the stress hormone caused cell death and messed up important brain chemicals. But when they treated the damaged cells with albiflorin, the cells survived and their chemicals went back to normal. The study showed that albiflorin works by fixing how the cells process energy and certain nutrients. This means albiflorin could be a promising treatment for stress-related brain damage.
