Virtual surgical planning and 3D custom-made implants in the management of orbital floor fractures: A case control study.

Summary: Breaking a bone under your eye (called the orbital floor) is a common facial injury. Fixing it perfectly is very important so you look normal and see clearly. Usually, doctors have to bend a metal mesh by hand during the surgery to fix the broken bone. But now, they can use computers to plan the surgery and shape the metal mesh before the operation begins.

A recent study of 52 patients found that using this computer-planned mesh cut the surgery time in half! It also greatly lowered the chance of having double vision or a badly placed implant after the surgery. This high-tech method is faster, safer, and gives much better results for patients.
