Washington AG alleges Providence failed to accommodate pregnant, nursing employees
Summary: The state of Washington is suing Providence, a huge hospital system, for allegedly failing to help its pregnant and nursing workers. Attorney General Nick Brown says the hospitals ignored requests from pregnant staff who needed simple things, like sitting down more often or not lifting heavy objects. Sometimes, workers had to wait a month for an answer, or were even fired for asking. It is highly ironic because Providence makes billions of dollars and delivers thousands of babies, but allegedly won't take care of its own pregnant nurses. Providence says they tried to work things out with the state and that they really do care about their employees. Now, a court will decide what happens next.
