Weaknesses and challenges of primary healthcare system in Iran: a review.
Summary: Iran’s primary healthcare system was once a global success story. In the 1970s and 80s, it effectively battled infectious diseases and drastically reduced maternal and infant death rates. However, times have changed. A new review of the last decade reveals that the system is now struggling to keep up with modern health threats. As the population ages, the burden has shifted from infections to chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes (Non-Communicable Diseases). The current system is outdated and ill-equipped for these new challenges. To protect its citizens, Iran must modernize its healthcare model by adopting successful strategies used internationally.
