What’s ahead for the Peer-Reviewed Orthopaedic Research Program in FY27?

Summary: The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) is working hard in Washington, D.C. They want Congress to give $30 million to a special bone and joint research program for the year 2027. This program is called the Peer-Reviewed Orthopaedic Research Program (PRORP). It pays for important research that helps injured soldiers, veterans, and everyday people heal and get back to their lives. Because bone doctors spoke up and shared their stories, 47 members of Congress have already signed a letter to support this funding. Last year, the budget was cut, but thanks to these doctors, the funding is slowly coming back.
