Worse Self-Rated Health Seen for Adults With Poor Mental Health Worldwide
Summary: A recent study of over 32,000 adults in 18 countries found a strong link between your mind and your body. People who struggle with poor mental health often feel worse physically and have more long-term illnesses. The study showed that mental health struggles happen everywhere, from 4.7% of people in Nigeria to nearly 40% in China. Also, more women than men reported having poor mental health.
Sadly, many of these people do not get the care they need. Depending on the country, only a small fraction of people actually received mental health treatment last year. People with poor mental health also reported feeling less confident in their doctors and having a hard time trusting the health system. It proves that taking care of our minds is just as important as taking care of our bodies!
